Unfortunately unless you're a member and your child grew up in this church they don't really prioritize you or your need and will pick favorites which leads to them ignoring your voice and opinions for your own child. I've witnessed them actively trying to talk around a young lady to down play what she was telling her father about the nasty behavior she experienced with one of the women with the program (Carol). The director was upset when the father decided to hear his child's concerns and pull her from the program instead of insisting what the director wanted him to do as the parent which was for him to ignore his daughter and only listen to what the director thought. They vocally judged his parenting to his face for him not taking the word of the all that staff and simply hearing to his daughter. This made me deeply concerned for all children in this program because clearly they believe they know better for your child than you as the parent and also made me wonder how much nasty behavior from their staff they've just down played and talked away.

My son and I were scheduled to attend orientation for the summer program. As the session began, we were asked which school he attends. After providing that information, we were abruptly told he would be placed on a waiting list because the program only serves students who attend schools in the immediate area. I made it clear that we live just down the street and that my son attends a nearby charter school due to academic reasons. Despite this, we were still denied a spot. What’s most concerning is that I completed the lengthy online application and participated in a phone interview—yet at no point was it communicated that eligibility was limited to students from specific schools. This critical information should have been disclosed up front, well before orientation. The lack of transparency is unacceptable and a waste of both our time and effort.

I absolutely hate it there. The coordinators threaten to take kid's money over the smallest things. If you say something small, they threaten to take your pay. They also took a kid's name off the list to go to the Clippers game without asking her. They also get mad if you wear certain types of clothes because of your "body shape". The director only cares about herself and nothing about the program. She tells a kid that she needs to go back to her track without letting her explain why she's out of her track classroom. during the summer on field trips, they go on field trips even though it would be EXTREMELY HOT and when kids complain they tell them that it's their problem. When we went on a trip to Columbus State College, they forced us to go up a bunch of stairs just to see a huge singular picture. One kid almost passed out and the other one puked. The guide had told the coordinater that there was an elevator and all. But nope. Stairs. No stopping or breaks. And it was alot of stairs. Then they never told the kids they could bring money to buy themselves something to eat and when some of the kids were sitting down at the tables, the coordinators ate the food they brought in first of the kids that didn't bring money or anything to eat. Let the kids starve. In conclusion, I hate it there, and don't send your kid there. Or even work there.

Excellent summer program for youth! Offer a variety of learning options and field trips. In addition, the summer program teaches children how to prepare resumes and conduct mock interviews. Extremely trustworthy staff, I've never had any worry regarding my child's safety/wellbeing, etc.
