The Alexandria Area YMCA runs Summer Adventure Camp, a full-day program for ages 5-11 based at Bethesda Lutheran Church, open 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM. Campers do outdoor play, swimming and STEM projects, and bus to field trips and to the YMCA for swimming two to three days a week. Families can register for a single week or the whole summer, three days a week or five. Staff are CPR and first-aid certified and the camp maintains a 1:12 staff-to-child ratio.

There were private changing rooms for families which is always appreciated. The pool was a good temperature and was so fun for my 5-year-old and 1 year old and my husband and I. ★★★★★Sara COur family was in Alexandria, MN for a brief (and very rainy) 2 day camping trip. We were elated to have found the Alexandria Area YMCA to spend our day! Highlights: -Guest Pass: For a mere $20, we were able to get a 1-day family guest pass for our family of 5! Including access to the pool, gym, locker rooms, walking and jogging track, workout equipment, etc. Also, we could come and go throughout the day at not extra charge. -Facility: Premium, clean and well-cared for facility that just celebrated its 15th anniversary. -Acquatic Center: A spacious zero entry pool, basketball hoops, water slide, and a connecting lap pool. Hot tub for adults only. Lifeguard on duty. -Family Locker Rooms: Numerous separate family locker rooms that included warm showers, a toilet and a sink in each. Additional gender specific locker rooms also available. Blow dryers in the women’s locker room. -Staff: Very friendly and helpful staff. Tip: -Check online for the ymca hours, pool schedule and the open gym schedule. Note that the water slide isn’t always operating. Overall, we had a great time and we are looking forward to returning to this premium YMCA next year during the MN State Trap Shooting Tournament! Thanks for helping us make the most of a rainy day!
