Powered by GooglePros: -Multiple locations that are convenient. Outdoor pool in summer. -Wide range of classes (if you use them). -Overall nice facilities and they have towels. Cons: -Pricing has gone from $159/month for 2 people to $199 for 2 people within 2 years. No change in user experience. Next price change will be the final straw for us switching facilities. -Pool lanes at all the locations near my are blocked off the only hours I can use them (3:30pm-7pm) for swim practices. This is a main reason I belong to the gym and previously the reason I could justify the cost. -Closes early on weekend nights (Sat and Sun at 7pm).
ACAC downtown is a great place. The staff is friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. My daughter takes swim lessons their and they have a fantastic program with a terrific staff.
It took over 8 months but ACAC did finally replace the two espresso bike machines. Thank you. Compared to all the gyms I was a member of in New York City when I was a personal trainer I still find it very disappointing how long it took to replace these machines. Plus the monthly rates are going up. It doesn't take much effort to make this gym better. I hope you can do these kind of things in the future.
Paying over $100 per month for a gym that markets itself as one of the best in Charlottesville, I expect basic cleanliness and professionalism. Today there was feces smeared on a locker room bench, which is completely unacceptable. The facility is not well maintained, and the overall atmosphere feels unwelcoming. With another rate increase coming in March, the experience does not justify the cost in my opinion.
Great facilities and plenty of options for anyone who likes a variety of workout types. After moving to Charlottesville, a friend recommended ACAC to me and I was hesitant once I saw the membership fee, but every penny has been worth it. The staff are tremendously helpful and love to answer questions. I love to use the rooftop pool in the summer after doing a group workout.
