I just finished the ASA 101 course this past week. Cpt Chris was fantastic, fun, and personable. Learning all of the boat nomenclature and rules of the road is like drinking from a firehose. I was concerned that I wouldn't remember anything. Captain Chris reinforced everything we learned via constant repetition and quizzes, while we sailed on the boat. The written test is a breeze and learning the basics is straightforward. You're in good hands! I set out to see if sailing -- something I had fun doing in Jamaica -- is something I want to pursue as a hobby. Captain Chris has given me the confidence I need to head to the yacht club and really dive into being part of a crew. He has also ensured that I will be back for 103 and 104, after I get some real-world practice and experience. Here's to a future of fun on the high seas! Thanks Captain. See you in a couple of years!

We did ASA104 to Block Island and Back with Capt Chris. Honestly, I couldn't recommend more. Chris is such an amazing person to be around and a wealth of knowledge! Thank you Cpt Chris!

If you're even thinking about learning how to sail, definitely go for it and go with Captain Chris at Anchors Aweigh! The ASA-101 course was taught in an intimate environment with lots of attention and feedback. Captain Chris has so much expertise and is able to impart it well with patience, repetition and practical reinforcement. The course was taught a on a beautiful sail boat that handled well and was kind to us beginners. The setting of the Thames River was also beautiful with plenty of space for learners and was super safe. Highly recommend!

FANTASTIC course and instructor. Far exceeded my expectations on learning the fundamentals of “what causes changes in weather?” and practical knowledge on how to improve planning/navigation. Captain Cooper is an amazing resource; he is also a retired US Navy Officer and an excellent instructor / communicator. I plan to take his class on advanced Navigation. Highly recommend Anchors Aweigh Sailing School for people looking to get into sailing, or experienced sailors looking to expand their knowledge.

I can’t say enough positive things about Chris Cooper, and anchors away sailing school… From the professionalism and experience to the friendliness and camaraderie this school gets high marks on all points. I went from knowing very little about sailomg to owning my own boat, and feeling quite confident on it in the last two years in large part thanks to this school.
